‘Once Upon a Time’ season 7: How do newcomers compare to original cast? [POLL]

Once Upon a Time” returned for season seven this fall minus many of the original cast. The fantasy show jumped forward in time by several decades and shifted locations. Seattle is now the focal point of this series, which had been centered in Storybrooke, Maine for its first six seasons. The season six two-hour finale introduced the two new characters who are at the center of this new storyline: Lucy (Alison Fernandez) who has her own book of fairy tales and is in search of her father, a grown-up Henry (Andrew J. West).

The younger version of that character, played by Jared Gilmore, went looking for his birth mother Emma (Jennifer Morrison) to the dismay of his adoptive mother Regina (Lana Parrilla) in the 2011 pilot. While Gilmore and Morrison appear in only a single episode of season seven, Emma’s new husband, Captain Hook (Colin O’Donoghue), returns in a new role as a police offer as does Parrilla as a bar owner and Robert Carlyle, who plays Rumpelstiltskin.

Absent from the action are original cast members Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas, who played Emma’s parents Snow White and Prince Charming. Emilie de Ravin, who joined in season one as Belle appeared in one episode while Rebecca Mader, who first appeared as the Wicked Witch in season three and signed on as a regular in season five, will be back in a multi-episode arc.

To fill the void, “Once Upon a Time” signed up “Devious Maids” scene-stealer Dania Ramirez for the dual role of Cinderella and Lucy’s mother Jacinda and “Burn Notice” leading lady Gabrielle Anwar as both Jacinda’s stepmother Victoria and Lady Tremaine. And Adelaide Kane (“Reign”) plays the latter’s daughter Drizella.

What do you think of the new “OUAT” cast members? How do they compare to the original ones who are no longer on the show? Vote in our poll below and then sound off in the comments section.
