“They’re like stocks,” Keith Simanton (IMDb) warns about Oscar predictions. “You can’t fall in love with them.” In other words, smart Oscar pundits shouldn’t make the mistake of picking their own favorites – they can get burnt.
Keith discusses his current Oscar forecast for Best Picture in our webcam chat (watch above or listen to the audio podcast below).
“I don’t think in this year we’re going to escape the climate that we’re in,” he says about how U.S. politics may impact the Oscar hopes of “The Post.” “It speaks to a lot of that. Also, it’s from Spielberg and other lions of the industry.”
He’s also optimistic about “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri,” saying, ” It subverts a lot of things you think you know going in. It’s got a rawness to it that I really love. Every person I talk to loves that film.”
