‘Outlander’ star Sam Heughan promises Season 3 ‘is strongest’ for Starz drama

Outlander” leading man Sam Heughan promises that season 3 of the Starz drama, which started on Sept. 10, is the strongest yet. It is based on “Voyager,” the third of the eight historical novels (and counting) by Diana Gabaldon. The first episode was centered on the Battle of Culloden, which Heughan’s character, the Scottish warrior Jamie Fraser, barely survives.

As the actor revealed during a recent screening of the premiere, “Jamie wakes up quite literally on the battlefield this season, without the woman he loves, and he has to learn to survive and find a purpose in life.” And, teases Heughan, his character “goes through many personalities and for me, this is definitely the strongest season.”

What did you think of “The Battle Joined,” episode 1 of season 3? How much did you miss seeing Jamie and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) together? Remember, they were torn apart by time at the end of season 2. But we know that they will eventually be reunited this season.
