“Crème de Menthe,” the seventh episode of season three of the Starz hit drama “Outlander,” was written by Karen Campbell and directed by Norma Bailey. In aftermath of a violent confrontation, Claire (Caitriona Balfe) follows her conscience as a surgeon, even though it could put her and Jamie’s lives at risk. At the same time, Jamie (Sam Heughan) attempts to evade the reach of the Crown as its representative closes in on his illegal dealings.
In our ongoing video series, “Outlander” fan Rob Licuria is joined by Amanda Spears to dish the highs and lows of this chapter of the fantasy romance saga. This season is based on “Voyager,” Diana Gabaldon’s third novel in the series of books. (Watch above).
“I had reservations about this episode,” Licuria declares. “We have come off such a high and there was such hype about the print shop,” he explains. “This was more of a chess piece episode and I didn’t buy the whole ‘let’s save the bad guy who almost killed me from a hematoma by drilling a hole into his head.’ It wasn’t really keeping me on the edge of my seat, that’s all.”
“It’s always going to be a letdown after a really huge episode,” Spears agrees. “We saw that last season with ‘Faith’ and the episode after ‘Faith,’ it’s always really hard to keep that momentum going. But this might be one of those episodes that we look back on and see all these little breadcrumbs that maybe we should have paid attention to,” she says. “But it’s not going to make my top ten favorite episodes of the series.” See the chat in full by clicking on the video above.
