Good news for fans of “Outlander” as the long wait for season three is almost over. Starz debuted the first trailer for these jam-packed 13 episodes on Sunday and from the looks of it (watch below), the action picks up right after Jamie (Sam Heughan) send the time travelling Claire (Caitriona Balfe) back to 1948.
This season of “Outlander” is based on “Voyager,” book number three in the series by Diana Gabaldon. We know that Claire, who is pregnant by Jamie, raises the child with her husband Frank (Tobias Menzies). We see glimpses of them in the 1960s as well as flashes of Jamie in the aftermath of the battle at Culloden, ever determined to be reunited with his one true love.
Filming of season three is set to wrap in May, with the premiere on Starz scheduled for September. As the final episode of season two aired at the end of July last year, this means an agonizing 14-month wait for fans.
The good news is that production on season four is to start this summer, which should mean a shorter gap between the seasons as the story heats up even more. The reason for the extra-long gap between seasons two and three was down to shifting locations from Scotland to South Africa.
