‘Outlander’ set photo teases sea voyage for Claire and Jamie in season 3

The upcoming third season of “Outlander” is based on “Voyager,” book number three in the series by Diana Gabaldon. That installment includes an exciting sea voyage by Claire and Jamie and the first set photo shows us Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan having a little fun in character. Jamie is looking out to sea while Claire gazes adoringly at him. We know this isn’t a still from a scene as Balfe is holding a paper cup of coffee. Filming of season three is set to wrap in May, with the premiere on Starz scheduled for September. As the final episode of season two aired at the end of July last year, this means an agonizing 14-month wait for fans.

The good news is that production on season four is to start this summer, which should mean a shorter gap between the seasons as the story heats up even more. The reason for the extra-long gap between seasons two and three was down to shifting locations from Scotland to South Africa.

In a recent interview, Balfe readily admitted she was loving the idea of being on location. “Sunshine, vineyards. It’s beautiful. I was lucky enough to go there about 10 years ago, and Cape Town is so stunning. Just being there will be amazing.” She also revealed her love of whiskey and wine, that her favorite film is “Full Metal Jacket” by Stanley Kubrick, and that her go to karaoke songs are by Blondie.
