Despite its obsessively loyal fan base including “Game of Thrones” author George R.R. Martin, the show hasn’t really received much love from the Emmys. For its first season (2015) it received one Emmy nomination for Original Dramatic Score (Bear McCreary, “Sassenach”). For its second season (2016) it received two Emmy nominations: Best Costumes and Best Production Design. It lost all three.

The Critics’ Choice Awards nominated the show in 2014 for Most Exciting New Series and in 2016 it won Most Bingeworthy Show and was also nominated for lead stars Sam Heughan and Balfe.
