‘Outlander’ wins 4 People’s Choice Awards including Favorite TV Show: Emmys, are you paying attention?

On Wednesday, Starz’s “Outlander” won four trophies at the 43rd People’s Choice Awards including the biggie for Favorite TV Show. These triumphs at the awards show that’s voted on strictly by the fans come just one month after the hit series starring Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan won Most Bingeworthy Show at the Critics’ Choice Awards. Will this strong showing of support for “Outlander” help the series get in at the Emmy Awards this year? Emmy voters, you better be paying attention!

At the 2017 People’s Choice Awards, “Outlander” took down other fan faves “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Stranger Things,” “The Walking Dead” and last year’s winner “The Big Bang Theory” to claim the prize as Favorite TV Show. Not to be outdone, “Outlander” also proved victorious as Favorite Premium Sci-Fi/Fantasy Series, Balfe took home the trophy for Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actress and Heughan prevailed as Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actor.

It’s clear that fans and critics love the Starz fantasy epic, so why not the Emmys? In its first two seasons, “Outlander” has only been nominated for three technical Emmy bids: Best Music Composition (2015), Best Costumes (2016) and Best Production Design (2016).
