Pixar fans, now that you’ve seen the trailer for Thanksgiving release “Coco,” do you think it will be among their best movies of all time? The blockbuster animation studio is hoping “Coco” will be a strong Oscar contender this year, especially as it’s their first to feature an all-Latino voice cast. But will it be a fan fave like so many Pixar classics that have come before? We want to know what YOUR favorite Pixar flick is, so be sure to cast your vote in our poll below.
Pixar movies have been a dominant force in Hollywood since the original “Toy Story” took its bow way back in 1995. Since then the studio has released 16 more features, including last year’s “Finding Dory” that earned fan acclaim but failed to score an Oscar nomination.
In terms of box office, “Finding Dory” got its revenge on the Oscars by being the highest-grossing of all 17 Pixar movies with $486 million domestically. Rounding out the Top 5 earners are “Toy Story 3” ($415 million), “Inside Out” ($356 million), “Finding Nemo” ($339 million) and “Up” ($293 million).
“Coco” tells the story of Miguel, who’s forbidden to play music by his family so he turns to the late Mexican guitarist Ernesto de la Cruz (Benjamin Bratt) for inspiration. Simply touching Ernesto’s guitar takes him to the Land of the Dead where he meets Hector (Gael Garcia Bernal), a charmer who just happens to be a skeleton. Together, the unlikely duo seeks to uncover the true story of Miguel’s family.
