“Preacher” is adapted from the comic book series that ran from 1995 to 2000. It was published by Vertigo, an imprint of DC Comics, the company best known for Batman, Superman and other famous heroes. Developed for television by Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen (“Superbad,” “Sausage Party”) with Sam Catlin (“Breaking Bad”), it tells the story of its title character, Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), who enlists the help of an Irish vampire (Joseph Gilgun) on his mission to find God. Co-starring as his ex-girlfriend is Ruth Negga, who became an Oscar nominee for Best Actress (“Loving”) since the show last aired.

On Saturday, March 11, Catlin and Rogen will take part in a panel discussion at SXSW along with co-executive producer Garth Ennis, who also created the comic book series.
