AMC launched the first trailer for “Preacher” Season 2 during Sunday’s “The Walking Dead” season finale, and it’s an explosive 30 seconds (watch above). Car chases, fistfights, guns firing, bombs going off, characters bickering … that’s just what fans love about “Preacher.” The comic book series returns with a two-night premiere beginning Sunday, June 25 and concluding Monday, June 26 in its regular time slot.
“Preacher” is adapted from the Vertigo comics that ran from 1995 to 2000. Developed for television by Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen (“Superbad,” “Sausage Party”) with Sam Catlin (“Breaking Bad”) as showrunner, it tells the story of Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), who enlists the help of an Irish vampire (Joseph Gilgun) on his mission to find God. Oscar nominee for Best Actress (“Loving”) Ruth Negga also stars as Jesse’s girlfriend.
Season 2 will consist of 13 episodes, up from 10 last year. Viewers who missed out on the show will have plenty time to can catch up, as Season 1 will be streamed exclusively on Hulu beginning Wednesday, April 5. The first season was highly acclaimed by critics, earning an 89% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 76 score on Metacritic.
