“I love Brandon, and I love the newness that he brings to fashion,” said “Project Runway” host and judge Heidi Klum about finalist Brandon Kee‘s runway show at New York Fashion Week (watch it above). “All the different layers, all the straps — there are just so many new silhouettes that I feel like I have not seen before.” But to the surprise of Gold Derby’s users Kee did not win season 16 when the final results were announced on November 16. Was he robbed? Scroll down to vote in our poll below.
“It was the most youthful,” said guest judge Jessica Alba. “I could see young girls easily throwing a piece on and feeling like their fashion, but modern and current.” But Klum had one major caveat about Kee‘s collection: “The only thing I wish here with him is that he put something in there so we can take a breath because it looks the same even though it’s not.” Zac Posen added, “I really wish that the ombre of the color range had gone stronger.” Nina Garcia defended him by saying, “He does have such a particular point of view that it has even influenced other designers on the show. That’s what you want from a designer, to inspire and be a trendsetter.”
But all four collections were well executed by the finalists, so there just wasn’t enough variety in Kee’s collection to give him the win. Despite being the frontrunner for most of the season based on our racetrack odds, he finished in third place behind winner Kentaro Kameyama and runner-up Ayana Ife. What did you think of that result?
