Which ‘Project Runway’ designer deserves to win season 16: Brandon Kee, Kenya Freeman …?

Project Runway” season 16 has been full of surprises, and episode 12 was no exception. In “There’s Snow Business Like Sew Business” the remaining five contestants had two days to design winter looks to earn one of four spots at New York Fashion Week. But when all was said and done the judges decided that all five contestants deserved to create a collection, so they all advanced, though it turns out only three of them will make the final runway show. So based on their work thus far, which finalist do you think deserves to win? Vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.

Brandon Kee has been the frontrunner to win for the last nine weeks. He won three design challenges and received a high score from the judges in most other weeks, though his design aesthetic may not be to everyone’s taste. He’s up against Ayana Ife, who is the only other contestant never to receive a low score from the judges; her modest style aesthetic is inspired by her Muslim faith. Kee has become BFFs with another competitor, Kentaro Kameyama, whose work on the show has been more hit-and-miss; he has had three low scores this season.

Margarita Alvarez also had three low-scoring weeks, and the judges actually eliminated her in “Warrior Fashion,” but Tim Gunn saved her. She and Kenya Freeman were the last two designers who were told they were moving forward this week. Their looks disappointed the judges relative to the other three in this final challenge, though their bodies of work made the judges want to see a complete collection from both of them as well. Freeman had been fairly consistent all season, getting high scores a remarkable seven times, but never winning. Perhaps she’ll win the one round that counts: the final one.
