‘Project Runway’ preview: Will Batani-Khalfani be eliminated tonight in ‘An Unconventional Recycling’?

“This is your first unconventional materials challenge and your first team challenge,” Tim Gunn tells the “Project Runway” season 16 contestants in the preview for tonight’s episode, “An Unconventional Recycling” (watch below). It looks like there will be high drama and clashing personalities when the contestants try to work together to turn rubbish into couture. So who will excel, and who will be expelled from the competition?

According to our users who have forecast tonight’s episode, Batani-Khalfani will be eliminated. She gets odds of 27/20, which translates to a 42.9% chance of leaving the competition. The 32-year-old designer from Inglewood, California, admits she’s “still learning all of the technical parts of designs,” and she narrowly escaped elimination in last week’s season premiere episode, where she and ChaCha were in the bottom two, but the judges saved Batani and sent ChaCha packing instead. Clearly Batani will have to up her game if she wants to stay.

If Batani does survive, Margarita Alvarez is next in line for elimination according to our users, She gets odds of 6/1 (14.3% chance of elimination), which may be surprising considering that she was the frontrunner to win the season going into the premiere. She’s followed by Aaron Myers, Shawn Buitendorp, Michael Brambila, and Brandon Kee, all of whom have odds of 11/1 (8.6% chance of elimination).

Alvarez is no longer the “Project Runway” favorite. Now the top spot in our predictions is held by Kenya Freeman, who was one of the judges’ favorite designers in last week’s challenge. Now she has 8/5 odds, or a 38.5% chance of winning the entire competition. But close behind her is Deyonte Weather (7/2 odds, 21% chance of winning), who was the winner of the season premiere design challenge.
