Reactions to SAG TV Awards: Forum users rant about ‘Orange is the New Black’ and Bryan Cranston, rave about Sarah Paulson and ‘Stranger Things’

Our forum posters are both delighted and dismayed about Sunday’s SAG TV Awards. Many of our most fervent followers are folks who work in Hollywood. They post in our forums under screen names to keep their identities a secret. (Read their insights into the film races too.)

They are most enthusiastic about the wins by “Stranger Things” in TV Drama Ensemble and both Sarah Paulson (“The People v O.J. Simpson”) in TV Movie/Miniseries Actress and Julia Louis-Dreyfus (“Veep”) in TV Comedy Actress.

They were surprised by the third straight victory for “Orange is the New Black” in TV Comedy Ensemble and were shocked by the wins for Bryan Cranston (“All the Way”) in TV Movie/Miniseries Actor and William H. Macy (“Shameless”) in TV Comedy Actor.

Below, just a sampling of what they had to say about the TV races at the 2017 SAG Awards. Take a read and then join in the discussion, if you dare.

claydavis: so for TV, nostalgia is definitely king

Sasha: Didn’t see that coming. But good for them!

BamaEd: STRANGER THINGS!!! YES!!!! I’m living for Winona Ryder’s facial expressions.

BEST TV DRAMA ACTOR: John Lithgow, “The Crown”

lovelylovely: I was expecting Lithgow to win. I’m only on episode 2 of “The Crown” but from what I’ve seen so far I can see why he won.

Moviebuff22: At least Lord Farquad won SAG

Sasha: Woah the most deserving person in his category won? Oh right, he has the name.

AayaanUpadhyaya: wow standing O? Emmy locked

BEST TV DRAMA ACTRESS: Claire Foy, “The Crown”

Stretchy: Damn…Claire Foy’s got that Emmy locked up. Nice! Was hoping for Millie but this is good, too. Can “The Crown” win Ensemble?

Jesse Seale: The queen wins again

Atypical: “The Crown” is coming for all the Emmys. Be warned.

cnmem10: Yesssss Queen slay

BEST TV COMEDY ENSEMBLE: “Orange is the New Black”

Jesse Seale: Damn, 3 years in a row now

Lord Freddy Blackfrye: Oh c’mon… “Veep” was robbed… again

AayaanUpadhyaya: ORANGE HAD A PHENOMENAL FOURTH SEASON. I’m just glad it won something.

Hunterbergfeld: YES OITNB WON!!! “Orange’s” first major win for season 4!!! Very deserving!!!

BamaEd: Seriously? Again? Is it because they have the most cast members? Maybe it skews the voting. I think we should have SAG Comedy Awards electoral college voting.

BEST TV COMEDY ACTOR: William H. Macy, “Shameless”

Stretchy: *sigh* …Macy, really?

Atypical: Go William H. Macy! Should have been Tituss Burgess. Political night tonight. Living for it!!!

AayaanUpadhyaya: Wow, how does he do it? #Upset

Hunterbergfeld: What the hell?!?!? William H. Macy!!! WHAT!!! I did not see that coming. I gotta binge watch “Shameless” now.

BEST TV COMEDY ACTRESS: Julia Louis-Dreyfus, “Veep”

Hunterbergfeld: Damn JLD won. I coulda swore Aduba had that locked. I’m scared OITNB won’t win. AHHH.

Jesse Seale: Uzo is finally dethroned.

AayaanUpadhyaya: Brilliant speech Julia <3

lovelylovely: I’m so glad JLD won, her speeches are the best.

BEST TV MOVIE/MINISERIES ACTOR: Bryan Cranston, “All the Way”

Jesse Seale: Did not see that coming

lovelylovely: OMG Bryan Cranston?? He was the last person I expected to win, but still deserved.

MovieBuff22: LOL the vote splitting between the OJ guys made this happen

Sasha: And of course the sheep went with the biggest TV name in the category. They’re the most predictable sheep in show business

BEST TV MOVIE/MINISERIES ACTRESS: Sarah Paulson, “The People v O.J. Simpson”

lovelylovely: Sarah Paulson for the win!

Sasha: And Sarah Paulson achieved what only a couple of people achieved. She won TCA, Emmy, GG and SAG. Good for her.

Jesse Seale: Sarah finally gets her due with television

Atypical: Yassss to Sarah Paulson’s trifecta! Love her new hair color as well.
