‘Sense8’ finale special preview: First look at ‘incredibly high-octane’ farewell episode [WATCH]

“The minute the decision was made everything has been super-speed, incredibly high-octane. Everything had to go, go, go,” says actress Freema Agyeman about returning to the Netflix series “Sense8” for one last adventure. It almost didn’t happen at all. After season two premiered in spring 2017 the series was cancelled by the streaming service, leaving the audience with more questions than answers. Loud outcry from fans prompted Netflix to make the rare decision to reverse its cancellation and produce a finale movie to provide the series with closure. “I’m glad the universe conspired to realign what was off-center,” says Toby Onwumere about the show’s surprise resurrection. The series follows the lives of eight strangers from all around the world who suddenly find their lives intertwined after their minds become connected by a psychic link. The ambitious production follows its characters across the globe, from the United States to Mexico, to Kenya, to India, and to Korea. That led to a hefty per-episode price tag that likely contributed to Netflix’s original decision to discontinue the series.

But fans rallied. Tuppence Middleton explains about the show’s appeal, “We all bleed when we’re cut. We all have the same thoughts. We all feel grief and love. It has always been about that common humanity. It’s a show that is for everyone.” Adds Max Riemelt, “Our show builds bridges, empowers people … I’m proud to be part of this and happy that we can give them an end that will satisfy them.”
