Koine Iwasaki and Kiki Nyemchek made it to the Top 4 on “So You Think You Can Dance” by the skin of their teeth. Both had been in the bottom three based on viewer votes at least once during the season, which puts them both at a disadvantage in the finals since they’re up against Lex Ishimoto and Taylor Sieve, both of who have coasted through the season without having ever been at risk of elimination. But all four contestants had plenty of chances to make a last impression during the last competitive performance episode of the season. They each danced by themselves, with their all-stars, in groups, and with each of their competitors. That brought Iwasaki and Nyemchek together for a contemporary routine, but will it be enough to overtake the frontrunners? Watch it above.
They certainly had the right talent behind them. Their routine was set to the classic “Both Sides Now” by Joni Mitchell and choreographed by Travis Wall, who just won his second Emmy for the show earlier this month. And it gave both performers an opportunity to connect emotionally to each other and to the viewing audience. But do you think this was the best of the contestant duets? Vote below to let us know what you thought about this routine, and make your predictions to let us know how you think Iwasaki and Nyemchek will place when the final results are revealed next week in the season finale episode.
