‘So You Think You Can Dance’: Lex Ishimoto & Taylor Sieve had ‘one of the best dance routines ever’ on the show [WATCH]

“It’s crazy that we met at a dance event,” said Taylor Sieve on “So You Think You Can Dance” on Top 8 night while preparing for her first live performance with a fellow contestant. She was paired with “SYTYCD” frontrunner Lex Ishimoto for a jazz routine that told a story of birds in flight — and in love. But this show isn’t the first time the two competitors have encountered each other. In fact, they’re well acquainted. They actually met “over a year ago at the Dance Awards Nationals,” Sieve clarified. “And the owner of the convention hired us to come on tour with them.” The familiarity must have helped as their routine received the only standing ovation of the night from the judges, and the praise was effusive.

Nigel Lythgoe called it “one of the best dance routines ever on ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ — no more words than that.” That comment took everyone off-guard. Even the choreographer of the routine, Spencer Liff, could be seen saying “Wow” from the audience. But luckily the other judges found words for the quality of that routine. Vanessa Hudgens said, “I would pay good money to see that on Broadway because that was phenomenal. This is an insane duo.” And Mary Murphy added, “There’s nothing to hate about that number, it’s nothing but love. I loved the concept too, it was really great.”
