‘Stranger Things 2’ video recap: Netflix drama ‘never lost the magic’ in second season [WATCH]

The Duffer Brothers‘ retro sci-fi horror drama “Stranger Things” returned for its second installment on Netflix just in time for this year’s Halloween festivities. Ghostbusters costumes, a mind flaying villain and nougat chocolate bars contributed to a season much bigger in scale than the original outing. Also, actors Sean Austin, Sadie Sink and Paul Reiser joined Emmy nominees Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour in the Season 2 cast.

In our “Stranger Things 2” video recap (watch above) Gold Derby’s Matt “Hopper” Noble is joined by Rob “Eleven” Licuria and Charlie Bright to delve into the world of 1984 Hawkins and the upside down.

Bright declares, “It was bigger with new characters, but never lost the magic from the old one. Specifically the new character of [Sink’s] Max. I was afraid she was going to take up a whole section of plot, but they just allowed her to come into the fold and it worked. I thought it was magnificent.”

Licuria agrees that “this season had a lot to live up to. They actually hit the mark and I’m quite surprised. The beginning was a little slow but by the end I was up applauding. It was a very entertaining season of television.”

Noble adds, “I liked the slow start to the season. It gave some really nice character moments, like our heroes rocking up to school in Ghostbusters outfits. It allowed more opportunities for 80s nostalgia and character development that made the season more satisfying when the intensity picked up.” See the chat in full by clicking on the video above.
