‘The Amazing Race’ renewed by CBS for season 30: Will it make an Emmy comeback too?

The Amazing Race” was just renewed by CBS for a 30th season. It first aired on the Tiffany network back in 2001 and has been a programming staple for 16 years and counting. And it has been an Emmy favorite ever since the TV academy introduced the Best Reality-Competition Program prize in 2003.

“The Amazing Race” won that award for seven years in a row before being  bested by “Top Chef” in 2010. It came back to take the crown in each of the following two years before ceding it to “The Voice” in 2013. While it edged out that NBC ratings juggernaut in 2014 , “The Amazing Race” lost to it again in 2015 and last year.

The current season of “The Amazing Race” is airing on Thursday at 10 p.m. ET/9 p.m. CT. There is no word as to when the next installment will air. We are predicting the outcome of this edition, which is set to air its finale on June 1.

After last week’s non-elimination leg of  “The Amazing Race,” this week’s installment, “Good Job, Donkey,” had an unprecedented third Double U-Turn. While the editing tried to ratchet up the suspense as the teams raced around Greece, the inter-cut interviews gave away the ending.

Tara and Joey were the first to reach the Pit Stop in the shadow of the Acropolis. They won $7,500 each for the efforts. Matt and Redmond once again passed Brooke and Scott to finish second. London and Logan were thrilled to be fourth. With Liz and Michael slowed down by the Speed Bump, which requires the team to make meat kebabs, Becca and Floyd flew past them. Even though they stumble at the Roadblock, they reach the Pit Stop ahead of Liz and Michael to avoid elimination.
