“The Crown” will return to Netflix for its second season on December 8. A new trailer gives viewers a sneak peek at what happens next for Queen Elizabeth II (Claire Foy), Prince Philip (Matt Smith), their family, and their government in the swinging Sixties. Watch it above.
The embattled monarch has been queen for a decade when the sophomore edition of this lavish historical drama begins. In those tumultuous ten years chronicled in the first season, she endured scandals and saw three prime ministers come and go. And there is far worse to come in the years ahead. Indeed, as she says at the end of the trailer. “There is no possibility of my forgiving you. The question is, how on earth can you forgive yourself?”
“The Crown” was an awards favorite when it premiered last fall, winning two Golden Globes and two SAG Awards, including Best Drama Actress for Foy at both. It reaped an impressive 13 Emmy nominations including Best Drama Series.
What do you think of the preview for season two? Does it look like another winner to you?
