“The Night Manager” may check in with viewers once again. BBC, which aired the limited series in the UK, and American broadcaster AMC released a statement with the production company The Ink Factory which confirmed a second instalment is in development.
This news follows on remarks made by Susanne Bier (“In a Better World”) on Tuesday that a script is being written. The Oscar-winning director revealed to Broadcast magazine that “we all very much want to do a season two but the thing we absolutely do not want is to do something that does not live up to the level of season one. That would be a really bad idea.”
The original edition was based on the novel by John le Carre and starred Tom Hiddleston as the night manager of a Cairo hotel who is recruited by a British secret agent (Olivia Colman) to infiltrate the inner circle of a dangerous arms dealer (Hugh Laurie). It reaped 12 Emmy bids with wins for Bier and composer Victor Reyes. And all three of the key players prevailed at the most recent Golden Globes.
