The seventh of the nine battles on the March 27 episode of “The Voice” pitted two of Adam Levine‘s artists — Sheena Brook and Hanna Eyre — against each other. For their battle song, Levine chose “Try,” which had been a big hit for Pink in 2012. This was another battle that was not seen in its entirety on the show but was posted online. Both artists tried hard and in the end, Levine liked the sound of Eyre more. Of the other three coaches, only Gwen Stefani still had a steal to use, but she took a pass on Brook.
By the time that Brook was featured on the March 14 blind episode, only Alicia Keys and Levine were still in the hunt for talent. This 33-year-old from Fort Myers Beach, FL crooned the 2004 Sugarland hit “Baby Girl.” Brook had started out as a rocker, then tried hip hop and has now turned to country. While she would have been a better fit for Shelton then and now, his team was full.
In her March 13 blind audition episode, Eyre took on the 2014 Taylor Swift track “Blank Space.” Levine, Blake Shelton and Stefani all wanted this 15-year-old from Laguna Nigel, CA for their team but she chose Levine as she likes his approach to coaching.
Over the course of the four Battle episodes, the 12 artists on each team will be split into six pairs and have to sing the same song for their survival. The four coaches — Alicia Keys, Levine, Shelton and Stefani — will then have to decide which contender in each battle to take to the Knockout rounds.
