Team Alicia Keys ‘The Voice’ battle: Quizz Swanigan was wrong choice over Felicia Temple say 74% of readers

The fifth of the six battles on the March 20 episode of “The Voice” pitted two of Alicia Keys‘s artists — Quizz Swanigan and Felicia Temple — against each other. For their battle song, Keys chose Sia‘s 2011 track “Tightrope.” Temple spoke movingly of her personal connection to this song, which she had used as inspiration when undergoing treatment for cancer. However, she could not overcome the desire by Keys to mentor Swanigan. But Blake Shelton liked what he heard from Temple – “You can just hear the warmth and that rounder tone that she has” – and stole her away for his team.

We asked if you thought Keys made the right choice by going with Swanigan and a whopping 74% of you said she made the wrong decision. If you haven’t voted in our poll yet,  watch the battle above and then cast your ballot below. And be sure to sound off in our comments section too.

POLL: Who is the greatest ‘The Voice’ champion of all time?

At just 13, Swanigan is the youngest artist this season. In his blind audition, this Little Rock, AR native’s rendition of the 1960’s Motown tune “Who’s Lovin’ You” was reminiscent of the young Michael Jackson. While his deep, textured voice had both Keys and Gwen Stefani turning, it was Keys who won him over in the end. For her blind audition, Temple, a 28-year-old from Teaneck, NJ, delivered a powerful performance of the 1960 Etta James classic “All I Could Do Was Cry.” While Blake Shelton and Stefani also wanted her for their teams, she connected with Keys and they even sang a few bars of the coach’s hit “Fallin’.”

Over the course of the four Battle episodes, the 12 artists on each team will be split into six pairs and have to sing the same song for their survival. The four coaches — Keys, Adam Levine, Shelton and Stefani — will then have to decide which contender in each battle to take to the Knockout rounds.
