Team Blake Shelton ‘The Voice’ battle: Lauren Duski was right choice over Brennley Brown say 72% of readers

The first of the six battles on the March 20 episode of “The Voice” pitted two of Blake Shelton‘s artists — Brennley Brown and Lauren Duski — against each other. For their battle song, Shelton chose the 2016 Little Big Town tune “Better Man.” Duski did an outstanding job conveying the emotional intricacies of this song about a break-up while 15-year-old Brennley, whose never had a boyfriend, struggled to connect to the lyrics written by Taylor Swift. After Shelton sided with Duski, Levine and Stefani tried to rescue Brown. Gwen Stefani won her over in the end by telling her, “There something about your innocence that I would want to work with.”

We asked if you thought Shelton made the right choice by going with Duski and a sizeable 72% of you endorsed his decision. If you haven’t voted in our poll yet,  watch the battle above and then cast your ballot below. And be sure to sound off in our comments section too.

POLL: Who is the greatest ‘The Voice’ champion of all time?

Brown had earned her spot on his team with her interpretation of Keith Urban‘s 2006 Grammy-winning “Stupid Boy.” She had started off shaky but finished strong and impressed both Key and Shelton. Duski had incorporated pop and soul into her rendition of “You Were Meant For Me,” which was Jewel‘s first big hit back in 1996. She was able to convince Levine, Stefani and Shelton to all turn their chairs. After a strong debate between the coaches, Duski went the predictable country route in choosing Shelton as her coach.

Over the course of the four Battle episodes, the 12 artists on each team will be split into six pairs and have to sing the same song for their survival. The four coaches — Adam Levine, Alicia Keys, Shelton and Stefani — will then have to decide which contender in each battle to take to the Knockout rounds.
