With “The Voice” returning for Season 12 on Monday, our writer Denton Davidson offers his power rankings for the 11 artists with the first blind auditions of the year. His top choice is Felicia Temple, a 28-year-old New Jersey native who can really belt out the tune “All I Could Do Was Cry.” He says: “The most eventful audition of the night was saved for last, with this powerhouse belting her way into the hearts of coaches Alicia Keys, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani (Adam Levine did not turn his chair). Temple has all of the qualities it takes to advance deep into the competition, and although I’m not prepared to say she can win it all, she’s off to a solid start. It was no surprise she chose Alicia as her coach, after the pair engaged in an impromptu duet of the coach’s hit “Fallin’’.”

For one of this season’s major contenders, here is her official NBC bio: “Felicia comes from a musical family. Her dad has been touring with The Sugarhill Gang for as long as she can remember. She grew up playing piano and learning sheet music, even earning the nickname Felicia Keys around school. She gigged with her dad and uncle throughout high school and later obtained her degree in nursing while pursuing a solo career. She was diagnosed with cancer last June. After completing six rounds of chemo, Felicia feels this is her moment.”
