‘The Voice’ blind auditions: Snapchat winner Ignatious Carmouche (‘Latch’) ignites fierce battle between Adam and Blake [WATCH]

During Night 5 of “The Voice” Season 13, Ignatious Carmouche‘s performance of Disclosure‘s “Latch” ignited a fierce battle between rival coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. Levine actually didn’t turn his chair around for the show’s Snapchat winner, so he told Carmouche that he should join Jennifer Hudson‘s team instead of Shelton’s roster. How did it all play out? Levine stepped onto the stage next to Carmouche and told him, “I get to redeem myself for not turning around by making sure that I can help you make the right choice. And the right choice is Jennifer Hudson.” Levine then stood next to Hudson’s chair and said, “This is the one that I need you to be with.”

“Ignatious, I don’t want his motives that he has right now to derail you from making the right choice here,” Shelton interjected.

“I’m seeing clear, Ignatious!” Levine responded. “My perspective is not clouded by anger or rage. I am purely saying to you, Blake Shelton is a fantastic coach and a fantastic person, [but] he’s not the right one. I purely, genuinely believe this where your heart is, this is where [Jennifer’s] heart is. Let’s do this.”

“Don’t fall for this lawyer thing that he’s doing,” fired back Shelton. “Come home, man.”

“That’s the devil on your doorstep right there,” added Levine. After a quick deliberation, Carmouche decided to take Levine’s advice and he chose Hudson to be his coach for Season 13 of “The Voice.”

Carmouche is 23 years old and currently resides in Opelousas, Louisiana. Here is his official NBC bio: “Ignatious is last season’s “The Voice on Snapchat” winner. In January of this year, Ignatious submitted a video of himself singing “Pretty Wings” by Maxwell. Never in a million years did he think he’d make it, but out of 20,000 submissions he ended up winning with Team Adam, and was granted a chance to audition for the Season 13 Blind Auditions, and ended up on Team Jennifer. Ignatious grew up in a very religious household, which is why he grew up singing in church. Being a shy kid, he would sing with his back toward the congregation, but as he got older his confidence grew. He eventually started playing the piano and alto saxophone, and finally took singing seriously. Late last year, he got his ministry license and co-founded his own music ministry. Ignatious is ready to show the world the power of his vocals outside of the church by appearing on The Voice.”
