On Tuesday’s final results show of “The Voice,” Brooke Simpson finished third. That result must have been bittersweet for this 26-year-old talent from Hollister, North Carolina. However, she could take comfort in the fact that her coach, Miley Cyrus, wrote her an original song designed to showcase her young protege’s soaring vocals.
Simpson sang “What Is Beautiful” on Monday’s final. By noon Tuesday, it ranked eighth in sales on the iTunes top 10. As part of the promotional push for the final four, Simpson made a video version of “What Is Beautiful” which you can watch above. Cyrus — who at one time had both the winner, Chloe Kohanski, and runner-up Addison Agen, on her team — was the only one of the four coaches to compose an original tune for their talent.

Simpson’s soaring rendition of the classic Christmas carol “O Holy Night” made it to fourth place on the sales chart. That she chose to cover a song that dates back to the 19th century is not so surprising given the success she had on the third live show with “Amazing Grace.” Her rendition of that 18th century hymn was your favorite among all of Simpson’s performances on season 13 of “The Voice.”
