The first of the three playoff rounds on “The Voice” airs Nov. 13 on NBC. By the end of the evening, two of the four coaches — Jennifer Hudson and Blake Shelton — will have cut their teams in half. Heading into the playoff, there were six artists on each of their teams: four that won in match-ups on the knockout rounds, one that was stolen from a rival coach, and one comeback artist that was brought back for another chance. This playoff episode of “The Voice,” as well as the ones to air on Nov. 14 featuring the six artists on Team Miley Cyrus and Nov. 15 with Adam Levine‘s top six, were taped at the end of the summer. That is a departure from the format used for the past six seasons of “The Voice” where America voted in two live playoff episodes.
Shelton has been with “The Voice” from the start and has won five of the previous 12 seasons: Jermaine Paul (Season 2), Cassadee Pope (Season 3), Danielle Bradbery (Season 4), Craig Wayne Boyd (Season 7) and Sundance Head (Season 11). Hudson is a newcomer to the US edition of “The Voice” but is coming off a win on the British version of the show.
