Week 2 of the live shows aired Monday night on “The Voice” Season 13, with country artist Adam Cunningham representing Team Adam Levine in the Top 11. After being in the bottom last time, Cunningham fought back this week with his cover of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers‘ “American Girl.” Do you think Cunningham did good enough to advance to the Top 10? Watch Cunningham’s performance from “The Voice” 2017 live shows above.
Our writer John Benutty live-blogged the episode, and as he admitted, “Both the pre-performance package and the performance itself are giving the audience a glimpse of Adam’s fun personality that I think was lacking before this week. There seems to be a lot of energy in the room and everyone’s eyes are on Adam, but also he sounds really, really good. This kind of anthemic song is exactly the kind of song that would be the bread and butter of his stadium tours as an artist.”
Back in his blind audition, Cunningham performed “Midnight Rider” and had two coaches turn their chairs around: Blake Shelton and Jennifer Hudson. The next time we saw Cunningham in the battle rounds, he and Natalie Stovall sang “Boondocks” and Cunningham was declared the winner by his coach Shelton. In the knockouts Cunningham was paired up against Esera Tuaolo, with Tuaolo proving victorious, at which point Cunningham was stolen by Levine. Cunningham’s rendition of “Have a Little Faith in Me” in the playoffs was good enough to send him through to the live shows. He sang “Against All Odds” during Top 12 week.

Cunningham is 38 years old and currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee. Here’s the official NBC bio: “Adam, a session singer in Nashville, grew up singing at churches with his mom and dad before releasing a few Christian albums as a young adult. Things were starting to look good until 2011 when his career went on the fritz as he and his first wife divorced. Adam put music on hold until 2013 when he met his current wife, Courtney. She brought light into Adam’s life and he started writing songs again. A year ago, Adam and Courtney welcomed a baby girl into their family. Now, more than ever, Adam wants to make a successful career singing his music.”
