‘The Voice’ Top 4: Season 12 finale set for Chris Blue, Lauren Duski, Jesse Larson, Aliyah Moulden

The stage has been set for the Season 12 finale of “The Voice,” as four artists are advancing to next week’s epic showdown that will decide the champion: Chris Blue, Lauren Duski, Jesse Larson, and Aliyah Moulden. Coach Blake Shelton will have two singers competing (Lauren, Aliyah), while Alicia Keys (Chris) and Adam Levine (Jesse) each have one. Gwen Stefani, who had long been on top of our predictions center as the coach to beat, was stunned to see both her artists eliminated and will not be represented in the finale.

Within minutes of the Tuesday broadcast on NBC, host Carson Daly announced that Chris was safe. Both his solo performance of “Take Me to the King” and his duet with teammate Vanessa Ferguson, “If I Ain’t Got You,” from Monday night charted in the top 10 on iTunes. Chris was the only artist to have two songs in the top 10, earning major bonus points that ultimately helped him advance.

The second artist to learn her fate was Team Blake’s Lauren. It was no surprise to see this longtime frontrunner move forward after she hit #1 on iTunes with her song “Ghost in This House.” Lauren has consistently charted in the top 10 on iTunes, earning bonus points nearly every week. All of those sales are going to pay off next week when total iTunes sales and Apple Music streams from the entire season help determine who is named the winner.

The third artist saved by America’s vote was the absolutely stunned 15-year old, Aliyah from Team Blake. After Carson called her name Aliyah’s celebration quickly turned to shock and then tears of joy as she slowly made her way off the stage. Aliyah moving into the finale may have surprised some viewers since she has not been considered a frontrunner throughout most of the season. But her emotional performance of “I Can Only Imagine” from Monday night hit the top 10 on iTunes, just behind Lauren and Chris.

It was then time for the home audience to take over and provide an instant save to either Jesse from Team Adam, Hunter Plake from Team Gwen, or Brennley Brown from Team Gwen. Jesse gave a strong performance of “Tennessee Whiskey” and defeated Hunter, who performed “Love Runs Out,” and Brennley, who sang “Warrior.” The results left Gwen, who many thought would win for the first time as a coach this season, out of the finale.

Vanessa from Team Alicia and TSoul from Team Blake were the bottom two vote-getters overall and were instantly eliminated without a chance to compete for the instant save. During the live episode hip-hop star Big Boi took the stage with Adam to perform their new collaboration “Mic Jack.” Pop group DNCE also gave viewers a glimpse of their new sing single “Kissing Strangers” between the intense results announcements.
