Ne-Yo, Jennifer Lopez, Jenna Dewan Tatum and Derek Hough have teamed up for NBC’s new reality TV program “World of Dance,” which premiered Tuesday night on the peacock network. After years of judging singers on “American Idol,” Jennifer Lopez now critiques dancers on the new reality program for which she also serves as an executive producer. JLo is pulling double-duty on NBC as she’s also the star of “Shades of Blue.”
Derek Hough is a two-time Emmy champ for Best Choreography for “Dancing with the Stars” (2013 and 2015) and now he brings his savvy abilities to the judge’s table. Since rising to fame on “DWTS” Hough has become a New York Times best-selling author.
Grammy winner and sometimes actor Ne-Yo joins JLo and Hough as judges for the inaugural season of “World of Dance.” The multi-hyphenate has three #1 albums to his name and more than 10 million albums sold worldwide.
Jenna Dewan Tatum serves as the host/mentor of “World of Dance.” The dancer-turned-actress has starred on popular fare like “Supergirl” and “American Horror Story: Asylum” and has been married to Channing Tatum since 2009.
NBC is hoping that “World of Dance” will bring in the same impressive viewership numbers as their reality stalwarts “America’s Got Talent” and “The Voice.” However, we won’t know whether Emmy voters fall for the show until next year, as “World of Dance” is ineligible for the current Emmy cycle since the cutoff date is on May 31, 2017.
