Zach Galifianakis (‘Baskets’) crashes kids’ birthday party to perform as Baskets the Clown [Exclusive Emmy Episode]

Gold Derby can exclusively reveal that Zach Galifianakis is entering the “Baskets” episode “Freaks” as his Emmy submission for Best Comedy Actor. This installment of the FX program aired January 19 and was the 1st episode of the 2nd season. In this premiere segment, Chip Baskets (Galifianakis) hops the train to Kettleman City and works at a small elementary school. When he learns about a birthday party for a poor family, Baskets the Clown crashes the event to entertain all the kids.

Galifianakis is up against two-time defending champion Jeffrey Tambor (“Transparent”) among the six contenders in his category. They both compete against previous winners Aziz Ansari (“Master of None”) and William H. Macy (“Shameless”), past nominee Anthony Anderson (“Black-ish”), and rookie candidate Donald Glover (“Atlanta”).

He is already a two-time Emmy winner for producing his short-format live-action program “Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis” (2014, 2015). He received another nomination for that show in 2013 as well as one for Best Comedy Guest Actor for hosting “Saturday Night Live” (2011).
