The 2018 Academy of Country Music Award nominations were announced on March 1, but the show has already announced its first group of performers. Jason Aldean, Kelsea Ballerini, Dierks Bentley, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line with Bebe Rexha, Miranda Lambert, Maren Morris and Thomas Rhett will all take the stage during the ACMs telecast on April 15.
Most of those performers are also nominees at the event. The only exception is pop singer Rexha, who is making her first ever appearance at the ACMs to perform her hit single “Meant to Be” with Vocal Duo of the Year nominees Florida Georgia Line. “Meant to Be” has been number-one on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart since December, and it recently peaked at number-seven on the Hot 100 singles chart, which ties it as Rexha’s highest charting single and marks the second top-10 single for Florida Georgia Line following their 2012 breakthrough single “Cruise.”
Meanwhile Aldean is the two-time reigning ACM champion for Entertainer of the Year, and he’s nominated in that category again along with Male Vocalist of the Year. Bryan is also a nominee for Entertainer of the Year and a two-time past winner (2013, 2015), but he doesn’t contend for any other awards this year. In terms of total nominations those two pale in comparison Rhett with six bids, Lambert and Morris with four apiece. But the most nominated artist at this year’s ACMs is Chris Stapleton with eight noms; he hasn’t been announced as a performer yet, but that may only be a matter of time.
