2018 CMT Music Awards: Carrie Underwood, Jason Aldean and Florida Georgia Line lead with 4 nominations each

All-time CMT Music Awards champ Carrie Underwood is looking to add to her record haul of 17 trophies with a leading four bids for this year’s awards. Jason Aldean and Florida Georgia Line are also in contention in four races. (See below for the full list of 2018 CMT Music Awards nominations.)

Underwood’s collaboration with Ludacris on “The Champion” is cited in three races, including Video of the Year. Her duet with Keith Urban on “The Fighter” at last year’s awards is also in the running. Aldean also reaped a bid for his performance on the 2017 edition of these awards as well as a CMT special and he is up for both Video of the Year and Male Artist for “You Make It Easy.” Florida Georgia Line earned nominations for collaborations with Bebe Rexha on the video “Meant to Be” and with the Backstreet Boys on a CMT special.

After a month of online balloting, the field of 12 in the race for Video of the Year will be cut to five on the morning of the awards on June 6. Voting will then continue throughout the day with the winner of this top award revealed at the end of the telecast hosted by three-time contenders Little Big Town. Chris Stapleton, Lauren Alaina and Thomas Rhett also have three nominations apiece.
