2018 Critics’ Choice Awards: Full winners list in the 25 film and 22 TV categories

The Critics’ Choice Movie and TV Awards were handed out on Jan. 11, 2018, during a two-hour ceremony at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California that will air live on the CW Network beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET. This marked the 23rd year that the 300 plus members of the Broadcast Film Critics Assn. have awarded prizes while it is the eighth time that their counterparts in the Broadcast Television Journalists Assn. have done so. On the film front, “The Shape of Water” leads with a whopping 14 nominations including Best Picture, Best Director (Guillermo del Toro), and Best Actress (Sally Hawkins). There is a four-way tie for second place as “Call Me by Your Name,” “Dunkirk,” “Lady Bird,” and “The Post” each picked up eight nominations.

Over on the TV side, awards powerhouse Netflix is in first with 20 nominations, with four of those for their new comedy “GLOW.” HBO is next in line with 15, thanks in part to “Big Little Lies” and its five bids. And FX, has 13 nominations including six for “Feud: Bette and Joan” and five for “Fargo.”

This year’s crop of contenders features a nice mix of new shows like “American Gods,” “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “GLOW,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and “Patriot” facing off against returning favorites like “Game of Thrones,” “The Big Bang Theory,” “Black-ish” and “Modern Family.” Only six shows contend in the Best Drama Series and Best Comedy Series categories, down from seven at the past few ceremonies.
