Voting for the Oscars kicks off on Feb. 20 and runs for eight days before ending at 5 p.m. PT on Feb. 27. Thirty-six hours before the ballots go live online on Tuesday, the BAFTAs will take place in London Sunday evening (Feb. 18). Last year, these precursor prizes were held on the day before this balloting for the Academy Awards began while in 2016 they were handed out on the third day of voting.
Two guilds (cinematographers and sound editors) will also weigh in with their awards this weekend. The remaining three guilds (costume designers, makeup artists & hair stylists, sound mixers) will hold their awards ceremonies during the voting period for the Oscars. The 90th annual Academy Awards will air live on ABC on March 4 and be hosted once again by Jimmy Kimmel.
We’ve already hear from the four major guilds. The actors and producers revealed their choices for the best of the year before the Academy Awards nominations were announced on Jan. 23. On Feb. 3, the directors had their turn in the spotlight while the writers revealed their winners on Feb. 11.
