2018 Oscars presenters: Winners Emma Stone, Viola Davis and Mahershala Ali returning, but not Casey Affleck

Three of the four winners of the acting races at last year’s Oscars will be handing out Academy Awards at this year’s ceremony on March 4. The academy confirmed on Friday (Feb. 16) that reigning Best Actress champ Emma Stone (“La La Land”) will be on hand as will the supporting winners Viola Davis (“Fences”) and Mahershala Ali (“Moonlight”).

But Casey Affleck, who won the Best Actor prize for “Manchester by the Sea,” won’t be continuing the long-standing tradition of the previous year’s winners returning to present the equivalent category for the other sex. So, who will be handing out this year’s Best Actress Oscar? Could it be one of the other famous folks named on Friday as presenters by sophomore producers Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd?

That isn’t likely as this first wave is slanted towards breakout stars: Chadwick Boseman (“Black Panther”), Tiffany Haddish (“Girl Trip”), Tom Holland (“Spider-Man: Homecoming”) and Daniela Vega (“A Fabulous Woman”).

Guaranteed to take to the stage of the Dolby Theater at least once are current nominees Greta Gerwig (“Lady Bird”), Kumail Nanjiani (“The Big Sick”) and Margot Robbie (“I, Tonya”). Academy governor Laura Dern will be presenting as will long-time friend of the Oscars Jennifer Garner.
