The 24th annual edition of the SAG Awards begin at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET on Sunday, Jan. 21. Awards in 6 film and 9 TV categories will be handed out at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles during a two-hour ceremony hosted by Kristen Bell that airs live nationwide on TNT and TBS .
We are predicting the winners of all 15 Screen Actors Guild Awards races. Our forecasts are based on a combination of five sets of predictions by: 23 Experts (journalists from outlets like Deadline, Variety who write about the SAG Awards); our eight Editors; Top 24 Users (those two dozen folks who scored the best predicting last year’s winners); the All-Star 24 (users who did the best for the last two years combined); and thousands of reader just like you.
Among the movies in contention, “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” is predicted to win a leading three awards for its cast, star Frances McDormand and supporting actor Sam Rockwell. Gary Oldman will continue his march to the Oscars with another win for his leading role as Winston Churchill in “Darkest Hour” and seven-time Emmy champ Allison Janney will pick up a SAG Award for her scene-stealing turn in “I, Tonya.”
On the TV side, the SAG Awards often like to spread the wealth. “The Handmaid’s Tale” will win for both its ensemble and leading lady Elisabeth Moss. That would follow major victories at the Emmys and Golden Globes. The remaining seven SAG trophies are expected to be split evenly among seven different TV programs, including HBO’s “Big Little Lies” and Netflix’s “GLOW.”
