Julia Louis-Dreyfus (“Veep”) holds a bunch of records at the Emmys, including an unprecedented six-peat in Best Comedy Actress, and she’s about to add another one at the Screen Actors Guild Awards: the first TV actress in either genre to win five individual trophies.
According to our latest predictions, Louis-Dreyfus has 3/10 odds to pick up her second consecutive SAG and third total for “Veep.” She’s ahead of Alison Brie (“GLOW,” 13/2 odds), Jane Fonda (“Grace and Frankie,” 16/1 odds), two-time champ Uzo Aduba (“Orange Is the New Black,” 33/1 odds) and Lily Tomlin (“Grace and Frankie, 50/1 odds).
Louis-Dreyfus also has two statuettes for “Seinfeld,” currently tying her with Tina Fey (“30 Rock”) and Julianna Margulies (“ER,” “The Good Wife”) with a leading four individual wins. A victory Sunday would make her stand alone with five, two shy of the overall individual record held by Fey’s co-star Alec Baldwin, who memorably (or boringly) won seven in a row.
Baldwin and Margulies share another record that Louis-Dreyfus could match and break at the ceremony: They are the winningest SAG performers with eight trophies each. With three comedy ensemble wins for “Seinfeld,” Louis-Dreyfus has seven SAG awards total. She’d need “Veep” to claim the ensemble award in addition to her individual trophy to eclipse Baldwin and Margulies with nine wins. The cast of “Veep,” however, is currently in third place with 11/1 odds, behind “GLOW” (2/5 odds) and three-time reigning champ “Orange Is the New Black” (13/2 odds), but ahead of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” (18/1 odds) and “Black-ish” (40/1 odds).
