2018 Teen Choice Awards predictions: Expect good news for superheroes, Jedi, Archie, Ed Sheeran and more

The 20th Annual Teen Choice Awards will be handed out on Sunday night, August 12, during a live ceremony hosted by Nick Cannon and online star Lele Pons from the Forum in Los Angeles, California. But who will win top honors when the awards are handed out. There are close to 100 categories being doled out at this year’s event, and hundreds of Gold Derby users have been predicting a dozen top races. Scroll down for our complete predictions ranked in order of their racetrack odds, with the projected winners highlighted in gold.

We’re anticipating a good night for superheroes. Marvel blockbusters are expected to win big in the film categories, with “Black Panther” tipped to win Choice Sci-Fi Movie and “Avengers: Infinity War” in the catbird seat for Choice Action Movie. But the Teen Choice heroics won’t just be on the big screen. We think the DC Comics television series “The Flash” will be awarded Choice TV Action Series.

And comic books aren’t just about superheroes. “Archie” is also predicted to get a strong turnout as its dark CW adaptation “Riverdale” is the front-runner for Choice TV Drama. Not only did “Riverdale” win that award last year, it swept all seven of its categories. Will it be just as dominant this year when it’s nominated 12 times across 9 categories?

In music races we’re predicting Ed Sheeran will win Choice Male Artist for the third time following victories in 2014 and 2015. Ariana Grande is the front-runner to win Choice Female Artist for the second year in a row and third time overall; that would tie her with rival nominee Taylor Swift as the all-time biggest winner in the category. And 5 Seconds of Summer are our favorites to win Choice Music Group over defending champs Fifth Harmony.
