Hey, Tony Awards voters: You only have till 6 p.m. today (June 8) to fill out your ballots

The 72nd annual edition of the Tony Awards takes place on Sunday, June 10 at New York’s Radio City Music Hall and airs live on CBS. But the 846 members of the Broadway community who decide the winners have only until 6 p.m. ET on Friday (June 8) to get their ballots to the accounting firm of Grant Thornton, which will tally their votes.

Two new musicals – “Mean Girls” and “SpongeBob SquarePants” —  have a leading dozen Tony Awards nominations apiece. The tuner that is tipped to win Best Musical over both of those shows, “The Band’s Visit,” has 11 bids. Among new plays, the British import “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” earned a whopping 10 nominations and is favored to win Best Play. That is twice the haul of its closest rival for that top award, “Farinelli and the King.”  (See the full list of Tony Awards nominees.)

Tony Kushner‘s Pultizer and Tony-winning two-parter “Angels in America” has 11 nominations and is predicted to win Best Play Revival as well as for leading man Andrew Garfield and featured player Nathan Lane. Conversely, the first Broadway production of Edward Albee‘s Pulitzer-winning “Three Tall Women” is predicted to win both awards for actresses: lead Glenda Jackson and featured Laurie Metcalf.

Five of the “Carousel” cast are in contention: leads Joshua Henry and Jessie Mueller and featured players Renee Fleming, Alexander Gemignani and Lindsay Mendez. “My Fair Lady” is represented by leads Lauren Ambrose and Harry Hadden-Paton and scene stealers Norbert Leo Butz and Diana Rigg.
