Now that Ada Vox has made it to the Top 10 of “American Idol” Season 16, we want to know what YOU think is her best performance so far. From the moment former contestant Adam Sanders debuted as drag queen Ada with her audition song “House of the Rising Sun” (watch above), she’s stood out for her booming vocals and sassy personality. Ada’s “American Idol” song list also includes “Creep” in the showcase round, “Feeling Good” in the Top 24, “Defying Gravity” as her superstar duet with Lea Michele, “The Show Must Go On” in the Top 14 performance episode, and “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” in the Top 14 results episode. Vote for Ada’s best performance in our poll below.
After performing with the rest of the Top 14 this week, Ada learned that she was not one of America’s picks to advance to the next round. That’s when “American Idol” judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan decided to make an “executive decision” and send her through. “I think we do know talent when we see it,” said a defiant Katy in the week’s most emotional moment.
Katy instructed the San Antonio, Texas server to take a seat along with the other Top 10 singers, and Ada promptly broke down in tears. The other nine artists who will sing for America’s votes during Sunday’s Disney-themed live episode are Maddie Poppe, Cade Foehner, Gabby Barrett, Caleb Lee Hutchinson, Michael J. Woodard, Catie Turner, Jurnee, Michelle Sussett and Dennis Lorenzo.
In our recent video discussion about Season 14, our “American Idol” recapper Denton Davidson said that he hoped the show refrains from “pushing Ada to perform as a male just to say it is his ‘authentic self.’ No pop star goes on stage as their authentic self. It’s a stage show so to say you can’t be a drag queen and be your authentic self is ridiculous to me.” So far Ada has performed in full drag for all of her performances.
In terms of YouTube views, Ada’s original audition of “House of the Rising Sun” is the most viral video so far at over 1.4 million views. Next up is “Defying Gravity” with 1.2 million views and then “Creep” with 1.1 million views. Which Ada Vox performance is your favorite?
