Sunday night during the second Top 24 solo performance episode of “American Idol,” 24-year-old Ada Vox sang Nina Simone‘s “Feeling Good” for judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. This San Antonio, Texas resident previously auditioned for the show as male singer Adam Sanders, but now she’s taking the stage as a drag queen. Was Ada’s performance good enough to send her through to the Season 16 live shows, which begin April 22 on ABC? Watch the “American Idol” video above and then read the judges’ comments below.

“You’ve heard the expression ‘wig snatched’?” Katy asked Ada after bowing down on her knees. “Wig flew!” Katy raved, referring to the concept of a singer being so powerful that the wig flies off her head. “I mean, wow, Ada. You are here to win.”
Lionel matched Katy’s enthusiasm, declaring, “From the first time we saw you we didn’t actually know how this would fit into this thing, but your talent is so grand it begs to put a new category in this equation. You are a force to be reckoned with, my dear, and I want you to know that.”
“[You have the] ability to bring the house down every time,” added Luke. “I mean, we watch this room just go, ‘Well, holy, uh, okay, unbelievable!’ That’s what you’re doing to us and that’s what you want to do to everybody that’s watching.”
The Top 24 artists have been divided into two groups, with the second 12 performing April 15 and April 16. Besides Ada Vox, the other singers in this second group are Amelia Hammer Harris, Maddie Poppe, Garrett Jacobs, Caleb Lee Hutchinson, Effie Passero, Alyssa Raghu, Marcio Donaldson, Mara Justine, Jurnee, Shannon O’Hara and Ron Bultongez. Which artists from this group do YOU think will make it through to the live shows?
