Monday night during Night 5 of “The Voice” Season 15, rocker chick Natalie Brady took on “Barracuda” by Heart and caused two coaches to turn their chairs around: Adam Levine and Jennifer Hudson. Natalie is a single mom who performs nightly in Nashville, and her experience was on full display during her blind audition. Despite Jennifer’s heartfelt pleas, Natalie decided to join Team Adam, who pushed his button first. Watch NBC’s “The Voice” blind audition video above and read the coaches’ comments below.
“You are a phenomenal rock and roll — and everything else probably under the sun — singer,” raved Adam after Natalie finished her performance. “If Heart called tomorrow and was like, ‘Uh-oh, both the sisters hate each other and we need a singer,’ you could be the one that did that. Oh my god, like crazy, wow. The rock and roll community that still exists? They need you.”
Jennifer scolded Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson for not turning their chairs around, telling Natalie that her voice “is like an oncoming train.” But Natalie seemed to make her decision when Adam declared that he was “already thinking about songs and ideas” for the rocker mom going forward. Will Natalie become Adam’s fourth artist to join “The Voice” winners list?
In his “The Voice” live blog, our recapper John Benutty had this to say about the performance: “Up next was single mom Natalie Brady from Nashville, where she also plays nightly gigs. She auditioned to Heart‘s ‘Barracuda,’ earning an immediate chair turn from Adam and then quickly getting him to his feet to jam out to her deep and gritty rock vocal. Though she seemed conflicted through most of the performance, Jennifer also pulled the trigger near the end, likening Natalie’s voice to an oncoming train. Adam scolded Kelly and Blake for not turning for her, believing Natalie to be worthy of a four-chair turn. With the two teams to choose from, Natalie went with her early adopter Adam.”
