Mel B’s Golden Buzzer, 15-year-old singer Amanda Mena, returned to “America’s Got Talent” this week in the Semifinals 1 episode and took on a brave song choice in Pharrell‘s “Happy.” After being bullied in school, Amanda now tries to be a positive inspiration for other students her age. While Mel refused to critique Amanda’s latest performance, she did rave, “You killed it!” Watch the “Americas Got Talent” video above, read the judges comments below, and then make your predictions before Wednesday’s results show.

You are my Golden Buzzer. You made it to the Semifinals. Well done, well done, well done. You are here in the house. Now, I’m not gonna [critique you]. It was a very brave choice, but I love you and you killed it! I want everyone to vote for my Golden Buzzer. Well done.”
Heidi Klum: “You just seem so sophisticated for your age. And by that I mean your voice, I mean your presence on the stage, your confidence that you have. I love what you did to the song. To me this was your best performance yet. It really was.”
Simon Cowell: “What you want to do in life is that you want to become a pop star, right? So it’s not bad to say going forward you’ve made it so far to the Semifinals on ‘America’s Got Talent.’ That is a massive, massive achievement — trust me. And with you I think this performance this time was better than your first time. You have more confidence. I like you. You’re a really sweet person. And I think people are gonna get behind you. Well done.”
Howie Mandel: “I think even more importantly when we looked at the package before, how you had a tough start and it made you tougher, and I think that that’s what brought you to the level that you’re able to perform to now. You’ve gotta be proud of yourself wherever this takes you. Less than half of the people tonight are going through. Great start to the night. Lot of competition. Good luck, young lady.”
In his “AGT” live blog, our recapper John Benutty wrote, “The first act to take the stage was Mel’s golden buzzer act, singer Amanda Mena. Tonight she sang a soulful rendition of the Pharrell Williams hit ‘Happy.’ I loved how smooth her voice was in the lower register and how the production of the entire performance felt ready for an awards show stage. In critiques, Heidi noted how it was a brave choice and it was her best performance of the season. Simon also thought she showed more confidence this time around and is certain that she’s making a good start to what could be a solid pop career for her.”
