‘American Idol’ Top 24 performances: Cade Foehner melts Katy Perry — ‘Are we allowed to show this on ABC?’ [WATCH]

Sunday night during the first Top 24 performance episode of “American Idol,” 21-year-old Cade Foehner sang Jimi Hendrix‘s “All Along The Watchtower” for judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. This Shelbyville, Texas rocker comes from a small town with only one stoplight, so he’s truly a fish out of water in Hollywood, CA. Was Cade’s performance good enough to send him through to the Season 16 live shows, which begin April 22 on ABC? Watch the “American Idol” performance video above and then read the judges’ comments below.

“Are we allowed to show this on ABC?” asked a melty Katy. “Oh my gosh, is this rock and roll? I saw some things that my minster parents had to shut out. You sure are a minister and you can preach to me any time you want! I just want to say whether you are #1, whether America chooses you, you are a star, and do not forget that. Just keep shining, honey.”

Lionel was equally impressed, adding, “Cade, as far as I’m concerned, I don’t want to admit it, but the reason I’m here is because I was there when the first guy came around. So let me just tell you. It’s the attitude, it’s the personality. You are bringing it all, my friend. And what’s that word? Sexy! She’s right. No matter what happens on this competition, you my friend have got it.”

Luke and Lionel tried to pull Katy together by sitting her down and covering her with a coat. Later, took a selfie with Katy, who was pretending to be knocked out in her chair. When it was finally his time to give a critique, Luke simply said, “No comment here, good job.”

The Top 24 artists have been divided into two groups, with the first 12 performing April 8 and April 9. Besides Cade, the other singers in this first group are Dominique, Layla Spring, Catie Turner, Dennis Lorenzo, Michelle Sussett, Michael J. Woodard, Trevor McBane, Jonny Brenns, Kay Kay, Brandon Diaz and Gabby Barrett. Which artists from this group do YOU think will make it through to the live shows?
