‘America’s Got Talent’ dance group Da Republik advances to live shows thanks to their raw personality [WATCH]

Dominican Republic dance group Da Republik returned to strut their stuff on the “America’s Got Talent” stage this week during the Judge Cuts 4 episode and earned raves from the judges. Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B, Howie Mandel and Chris Hardwick all agreed that their moves and energy were amazing, but that their raw personality was what made them true stars. After a nail-biting deliberation process, Da Republik learned that they’d advanced to the “AGT” live shows at the Dolby Theatre. Watch the “Americas Got Talent” performance video above and read the judges’ comments below

Chris: “That was absolutely incredible. I can tell that you’re all strong. I can tell there’s a strong sense of community and I feel trust. You had such a stunning, breath-taking performance today. Really wonderful job.”

Howie: “The moves, the strength, the passion. You are the real deal.”

Simon: “Well, you know what? For me, the difference between why I loved you guys and why I didn’t respond to the earlier act [Academy of Villains] is that no matter how technically good you are, you’ve gotta have personality. And with you I felt your personality. Not felt it, I saw it. This show needs acts like you. I think you guys are terrific. We’ll see you later, guys.”

In his “AGT” live blog, our recapper John Benutty declared, “Following [Academy of Villains] was Da Republik from the Dominican Republic. Their routine to hip hop music was much more acrobatic in nature and had a higher energy level in general. Howie noted their passion and strength as a group and Chris called the performance “stunning.” For Simon, who didn’t like the previous act, Da Republik showed a personality that the other group didn’t.”
