‘America’s Got Talent’ outrage: 13-year-old Jeffrey Li eliminated after ‘nervous’ Whitney Houston performance — Do YOU agree with judges? [WATCH]

Thirteen-year-old singer Jeffrey Li, whom you may remember was promised a puppy by Simon Cowell, made his triumphant return to “America’s Got Talent” this week during the Judge Cuts 3 episode. But things didn’t go according to plan. After his performance of Whitney Houston‘s “One Moment in Time,” the “AGT” judges — Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B, Howie Mandel and Martina McBride — honed in on Jeffrey’s nervousness and eliminated him. Thus, the talented tyke was kicked to the curb before even making it to the Season 13 live shows. Do YOU agree with the judges’ decision? Martina told Jeffrey, “You seem kind of nervous which is understandable. But I love your voice. I mean, I can’t sing like that and I’ve had a 25-year career, so I think it’s incredible.”

Simon added, “On paper this should not have worked, you at 13 and singing one of the biggest songs of all time. But you did really well, Jeffrey. I’ll hand it to you.”

After the young boy walked off the stage, Heidi noted, “He is so nervous!”

In his “AGT” live blog, our recapper John Benutty wrote, “Jeffrey [sang] his own rendition of ‘One Moment in Time’ by Whitney Houston and after shocking the judges with such a bold song choice completely blew their socks off. The depth and clarity in his voice was incredibly powerful, earning a standing ovation from the crowd and a ton of respect from the judges. Martina acknowledged that Jeffrey seemed nervous, but loved what he did and Simon said that on paper it shouldn’t have worked but it did!”
