As is tradition, the latest winner of NBC’s reality TV show “America’s Got Talent” — close-up magician Shin Lim — will soon headline his own show on the Las Vegas strip. And he’ll be bringing along some finalist friends, too. Teenager singer Courtney Hadwin, stand-up comedians Samuel J. Comroe and Vicki Barbolak, electric violinist Brian King Joseph and trapeze artists Duo Transcend are all set to join Shin from November 2-4 at Paris Theater inside the Paris Las Vegas Hotel. Get your “AGT” tickets here.
Shin prevailed in the Season 13 finale against runners-up Zurcaroh, an acrobatic group who many compared to Vegas stars Cirque Du Soleil. By winning “Americas Got Talent” 2018, Shin became only the second magician in the show’s history to take home the $1 million prize. The other was Mat Franco, who claimed victory back in 2014 and is still entertaining Las Vegas audiences with his nightly magic show.
Despite his success, Shin was not the favorite to win “AGT.” Courtney was the overwhelming frontrunner heading into the Season 13 finale, while Shin came in second place in our predictions. So how did the magician pull off the shocking upset over the singer? It’s possible that since there were four singers in the Finals — Courtney, Michael Ketterer, Daniel Emmet and Glennis Grace — they all split the vote.
“This is crazy,” Shin said moments after he won he $1 million check on live television (watch below). “[It’s] like a roller coaster ride and I’m just kind of like trying to take a deep breath and collect it all in. This has been a crazy experience and I’m so happy I did ‘AGT.’ I do not regret a single moment and I just want to thank everyone for supporting me. From the bottom of my heart, I love you all.”
